The first couple of warm days made me really wish for summer, and a summery-meal seemed in order. Mussels, vegetable panzanella, and beer were perfect. I usually just do a classic wine and tomato broth, but this was a fun change. A smidge too spicy to taste the mussels, but otherwise great! We’ll definitely make it again. Another one from Gourmet, this is as printed. I would just cut the red pepper flakes a tiny bit next time.

New England Clam Chowder
One of my all time favorites, and Shawn’s too…I guess it’s the New England in us both! This was a great treat on Thanksgiving-eve and we’re thinking it’s a new holiday tradition for us. This would be excellent with fresh clams, however canned whole baby clams or steamers are perfectly great as well. Definitely a favorite and makes tons of leftovers!
Mussels in White Wine
Mussels are one of my absolute favorite things, and this is a fast, easy way to make them. I just served this with some crusty bread on the side to soak up the sauce. Although this served two of us, it could easily have been for three, or even four with sides. We had to stuff ourselves silly to finish it all because the mussels wouldn’t keep. So keep that in mind if this is a meal for two.
